Equator Principles

Launched in 2003, the Equator Principles are an environmental and social measurement and reporting framework administered by the International Finance Corporation (a subsidiary of the World Bank). Many financial institutions that provide project finance are members of the International Finance Corporation and require borrowers to annually report against the Equator Principles per their policies of responsible lending. Increasingly, banks and other sources of project finance are implementing responsible lending policies which require subordinate projects to report on their environmental and sustainability performance to their financier annually.

In the event that your project’s financier has adopted the Equator Principles and your finance deed requires it, you are expected to report annually to your financier’s representative to maintain your arrangements.
